Let us make sure it DOES NOT PERISH--by using the ONLY REAL POWER we ORDINARY PEOPLE HAVE. THE POWER OF OUR BALLOT.
Because the government of the people, by the people and for the people is IN DANGER OF PERISHING. Under the Republicans for 8 horrible years.--the modern DARK AGES if you will--the government of the PEOPLE has slowly morphed to the government of the (rich) PEOPLE, for the (rich) PEOPLE, by the (rich) PEOPLE. Yeah yeah...technically it's still for ALL the PEOPLE. But in practice it seems to work for just the rich people. Specially in recent times.
Look at our situation now. The Republican Administration is trying to RAMROD a 700 BILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT PLAN through Congress. They are trying to get congress to rubber-stamp this crazy plan without much debate. I hope congress develops a SPINE this time an puts its foot down and demands more details and oversight. 700 BILLION to bailout the RICHEST COMPANIES. Yes, these companies are failing now...but through their OWN BAD DECISIONS, their own IRRESPONSIBILITY, their OWN GREED. What this is essentially is PRIVATE PROFIT, PUBLIC LOSSES. When these companies where making profit...they get to keep all that for themselves. But now that they are LOSING MONEY...the government now wants to make their LOSS PUBLIC. The taxpayer will be stuck with the GIANT 700 BILLION DOLLAR BILL to keep these companies afloat.
700 BILLION to the RICHEST COMPANIES...0...that's ZERO for ordinary STRUGGLING AMERICANS...specially those losing their homes. Now Congress is trying to get something into the bill to help out these people...but the Republicans resist...saying "we shouldn't put controversial items into the bill". EHEM! EXCUSE ME! 700 BILLION for the richest (but failing) banks and companies is NOT CONTROVERSIAL but a few billion to help out ORDINARY AMERICANS LOSING THEIR HOMES IS CONTROVERSIAL? WTF! WTF! Are the Republicans insane?
OBAMA IS RIGHT! No to a 700 BILLION DOLLAR Bailout Plan that helps ONLY WALL STREET BUT NOT MAIN STREET. Any plan to rescue the economy MUST...MUST include something to help out the common, ordinary STRUGGLING American citizen and families. The plan must also include OVERSIGHT and ACCOUNTABILITY. There can be "NO BLANK CHEQUE", as Obama has insisted. There must also be more oversight over these companies in exchange for this bailout.
Most of all remember on Nov. 4th that all this happened under a REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION. The buck stops with them.
NOW YOU ALL MAKE SURE TO USE YOUR POWER on Nov. 4th. Use your POWER WISELY. VOTE THE REPUBLICANS OUT!

BUSH IS A JOKER
I saw a headline earlier today that almost made me fall of my chair. Either DUBYA was being a JOKER or he was being total HYPOCRIT or BOTH.
The headline said "BUSH SAYS UN MUST DO MORE TO PREVENT TYRANNY" followed by smaller text which says "Bush says the UN is needed now more than ever."
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAH! HEHEHEHEHE!
Bush surely you jest! Dubya the tyrant himself wants the UN to prevent tyranny! Has he looked in the mirror lately? Does the man who thinks the Constitution is just a piece of paper with some "guidelines" that does not necessarily need to be followed wants to the UN to prevent more leaders like him from coming to power?
And suddenly the UN is "needed more than ever". This is from the same man that once said the "UN IS BECOMING IRRELEVANT" when it would not support his crazed drive to go to war with Iraq 5 years ago.
So suddenly, after DUBYA has weakened America's influence and power by the debacle of Iraq...suddenly the UN is "needed more than ever".

I like the newer feistier Obama! It's about time! It's time to hit McCain and the Republicans hard. It's hardball time! I understand Obama wants to fight with truth and not lies like the Republicans do. But you can wrap that truth on your fist and whack McCain upside the head with it! It's fightin' time!
Off with the gloves! The economic crises has revived the Democrats momentum and now they must run with it! The Republicans don't know crap about the economy...they got us into this mess to begin with. Mr. Obama...make sure you remind the voters of this fact EVERY DAY until ELECTION DAY!

I loved it when Obama responded to McCain's claim that McCain will take on the "old boys network". Obama said "the old-boy network? In the McCain campaign, that's called a staff meeting!" HAHAHAHA! That's what I want to hear from Obama!
This isn't the primaries anymore. Obama already got the SMART VOTE, THE EDUCATED VOTE, the INFORMED VOTE. Now he needs to get the Less-Educated Vote, the Blue Collar Vote, the Less-Informed Vote. These voters don't listen much to serious intellectual talk. They thrive on soundbites. That's exactly what Obama is doing now and what he needs to do MORE OF!

Unfortunately many people are allowing just this very thing to happen. They are allowing themselves to be FOOLED--AGAIN--by Republican lies, Republican politics-of-fear, and Republican false claims.
So SHAME on these people who are allowing themselves to be so easily fooled by the Republicans. I hope they eventually wisen up before the election. I mean really people...ARE YOU BETTER OFF NOW THAN 8 YEARS AGO? IS AMERICA BETTER OFF NOW THAN 8 YEARS AGO?
I don't think so. Things have definitely gotten worse. The economy is a JOKE. Gas prices as SKY HIGH. Thousands of people are gonna lose their homes because of the Mortgage Crisis. Countless people have lost their jobs. The Healthcare system is a big freaking MESS. YET...YET...many people ACTUALLY THINK...McCain--a Republican who AGREES with BUSH 90% of the TIME--will make things better.
HUH? Listen you McCain leaners or fence-sitters...This is like trying to fix a broken machine with the WRONG TOOL. DEEP DOWN...YOU KNOW it's the WRONG TOOL. It hasn't worked for 8 years. But part of you THINKS that if you change the name of the tool from BUSH to MCCAIN that it "might" work. I don't think so dude.
It's time to TRY SOMETHING NEW. It's time to TRY a new TOOL to fix the broken machine that is America. It's time to TRY OBAMA! Yeah, some of you maybe scared of CHANGE. But we cannot continue going on the same DISASTROUS COURSE that the country is currently headed. Something needs to CHANGE. McCain/Palin WILL NOT BRING ABOUT CHANGE. They will bring MORE OF THE SAME.

National polls mean diddly squat in a race that will be decided state by state.
You'ld be better off paying attention to Electoral Vote estimates which are based on state-by-state polling instead of a nationwide poll.
Several websites that provide estimates for Electoral Votes all give Obama the edge:

This is one of the best sites since they update their count with new state polls daily. They also track states gained by either party compared to the 2004 presidential election.

But there's a wildcard here even. Both campaigns are investing heavily in voter registration drives. The Obama campaign has been doing this since the primaries. Obama's voter registration drive dwarf's that of the republicans. Most new voters being registered are those of under 35--a key Obama demographic. That's something hard to track in polls. Most pollsters call existing registered voters or people who have voted in the last election. Newly registered voters probably aren't in their databases yet, and so are not polled.
Obama understand he needs to change the electorate to win this. And his massive army of volunteers and paid staff are doing precisely this. Will it work? We will find out in November. Personally I believe it will make a difference. If he can get the younger people to vote during the general election has he was able to do during the primaries, I think that gives him a good chance. Also if he can get a massive black vote out during the general election, just as he did during the primaries, that's another factor that will help as well in several states.
Make no mistake...this election is going to be fought between those who want to keep the status quo and those who want change. In some ways this will also be a generational battle...with older generations going for McCain, and the younger generations going for Obama. And sadly this is also a fight between the educated vs the uneducated, the informed vs the poorly informed, the smart people vs the sheeple who are easily swayed by talk show hosts and empty soundbites.
This is the PAST vs the FUTURE. For all our sakes, I believe, and sincerely hope the FUTURE wins!
