Is America Ready for A Black President?

I think that is the wrong question to ask.

First of all, Barack Obama is HALF WHITE-HALF BLACK. You may already know that, but I need to repeat that. His Kenyan father abandoned him and his mother when he was but a baby. He was raised by his white mother and his white grandparents. He rediscovered and reconnected with his African roots only later on in his life. For sometime he was conflicted with his identity. But not anymore. Here we have a unique man, with a truly remarkable life story. Here is a chance for the nation to have a leader who can understand both the issues that concern the majority population, and the issues that concern its largest minority population.
So if the above mentioned question is the wrong one to ask. What is the right question? I think the question should be..."Is America ready for a President who can UNITE a divided country?"

And then answer: HELL YES!

Here we have a man with an uncanny talent for communicating with different types of people. Obama easily connects with African-Americans in urban areas, white farmers in the rural states, new immigrants, the rich, the poor, people from all walks of life.

This is a gift only few politicians have. For most, the above takes a lot of effort. For Obama, it is almost as natural as simply breathing.

It's time for CHANGE. It's time to UNITE a divided nation. It's time for OBAMA.

VOTE OBAMA 2008!

Are you serious? Your blog runs rampant with inherent bias. You use the fact that his "Kenyan" father abandoned him, so he was raised by 'white' people as a way to argue that this should make him better than another person. What would being rasied in a white family have to do with him being a good person, qualified for the job and willing to do what's necessary to turn this country around? What would the recent nature of his rediscovery of his heritage bring to the table either? I agree with the remainder of the blog, however you almost lost this reader with your first 4 sentences.

I haven't read the comments on this post till now. To anonymous, yes I made the doctored image of Lincoln with Obama's face. Thanks for the compliments!

To Fiiiyer...you misunderstood what I was trying to say in this post. I'm not saying that being raised by whites makes him a "good" or "more qualified" person. I'm saying that his unique background and upbringing helps gives him mainstream appeal. It helps him to connect to both black and white alike. This ability to connect with all kinds of people, across racial lines is something that can help win elections and can help one govern (once elected). It's a simple fact that Obama is bi-racial. He brings up his background almost all the time during speeches or during debates to underscore this point. Because he knows he reinforces his mainstream appeal.

Why would America not be ready for a black president.
Race has nothing to do with how qualified someone is.
People who say that are just afraid to change. I think that by bringing a black man into the white house we will be making an even larger step to solving racism once and for all. Just my opinion, if you don't like it then whatever.
