Obama Wins 3rd Presidential Debate

According to several instant polls taken right after the debate, Obama won the 3rd and final presidential debate of 2008.

McCain, while he was fiestier and tougher this time...well he just looked old and erratic. He often mixed up his words and seem to have trouble articulating things. Once he called Obama "Senator Government". He seemed dyxlexic. He did not look presidential at all.

Obama is the exact opposite. Always cool. Always calm. Very presidential. McCain tried to insert negative attacks (ie: the Ayers smear) into the debate, but Obama calmly rebutted him and explained his so-called association to this man. Obama refrained himself from going negative as well. He very well could have brought up McCain's dirty associations, but he did not.

I think he knows people are turned of by mudslinging and wisely avoided doing so. McCain, desperate man that he is, probably felt he had nothing to lose. But he is wrong. Independents and undecided voters are turned off by these negative attacks. They want to know WHAT McCain will do for them. They want to know HOW McCain is going to fix the broken economy. So Mr. McCain, I think you lose votes everytime you go negative.

My brother, a McCain supporter, also brought up a good point. Obama looks GOOD on TV. McCain does not.

Looking good on TV does help win elections. It can't be denied. It helped Kennedy and it helped Reagan (Reagan being a master at looking cool on TV).

McCain...well he just looks old and frail and puffy and out of touch.

These days, every little advantage counts. So if looking good on TV helps Obama, them good for him. But don't vote for him because he looks so cool, vote for him because you believe he is the best man to get us out of the giant hole that Dubya dug us into the last 8 years.

NO MCCAIN NO PALIN

VOTE OBAMA / BIDEN 2008!

OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!

HEMPSTEAD, New York (CNN) -- A majority of debate watchers think Sen. Barack Obama won the third and final presidential debate, according to a national poll conducted right afterward.
Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain debate face to face Wednesday night.

Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain debate face to face Wednesday night.

Fifty-eight percent of debate watchers questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll said Democratic candidate Obama did the best job in the debate, with 31 percent saying Republican Sen. John McCain performed best.

The poll also suggests that debate watchers' favorable opinion of Obama rose slightly during the debate, from 63 percent at the start to 66 percent at the end. The poll indicates that McCain's favorables dropped slightly, from 51 percent to 49 percent.

The economy was the dominant issue of the debate, and 59 percent of debate watchers polled said Obama would do a better job handling the economy, 24 points ahead of McCain.

During the debate, McCain attacked Obama's stance on taxes, accusing Obama of seeking tax increases that would "spread the wealth around." But by 15 points, 56 percent to 41 percent, debate watchers polled said Obama would do a better job on taxes. By a 2-1 margin, 62 percent to 31 percent, debate watchers said Obama would do a better job on health care.

Sixty-six percent of debate watchers said Obama more clearly expressed his views, with 25 percent saying McCain was more clear about his views.

By 23 points, those polled said Obama was the stronger leader during the debate. By 48 points, they said Obama was more likeable. Watch entire debate: Video Part 1 » | Video Part 2 » | Video Part 3 »

McCain won in two categories. Eighty percent of debate watchers polled said McCain spent more time attacking his opponent, with seven percent saying Obama was more on the attack. Fifty-four percent said McCain seemed more like a typical politician during the debate, with 35 percent saying Obama acted more like a typical politician.

"Independents tend to prefer debates that are dominated by substance and light on discussion of personal characteristics," said Keating Holland, CNN polling director. "The perception that McCain attacked Obama gave red meat to GOP partisans, but it probably didn't help McCain with independents."

"There was a notable gender gap as well," Holland said. "Women thought Obama won the debate by a 62 percent to 28 percent margin. Among men, Obama's lead was narrower, 54 percent to 35 percent in Obama's favor."

During the debate, McCain demanded to know the full extent of Obama's relationship with William Ayers, a 1960s radical. But the poll suggests that line of attack may not resonate with Americans. Fifty-one percent of debate watchers said Obama's connection to Ayers didn't matter at all to them, with 23 percent saying it mattered a great deal.

The audience for the debate poll appeared to be a bit more Democratic -- and a bit more Republican -- than the U.S. population as a whole. Forty percent of debate watchers in the survey were Democrats and 30 percent Republicans.

CNN's estimate of the number of Democrats in the voting age population as a whole indicates the sample is about 3 to 4 points more Democratic than the population as a whole, but also about 2 to 3 points more Republican than the population as a whole.

Eighty-eight percent of Democrats questioned in the poll said Obama did the best job, with 68 percent of Republicans saying McCain performed best. Among independents, 57 percent said Obama did the best job, with 31 percent backing McCain as the winner of the debate.

The candidates first debated in Oxford, Mississippi, on September 26. Fifty-one percent of debate watchers polled by CNN and the Opinion Research Corp. said Obama won that debate, with 38 percent saying McCain performed best. The second presidential debate was held in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 7 and 54 percent of debate watchers polled said Obama won, compared with 30 percent who said McCain did the best job.

The running mates, Democratic Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware and Republican Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska faced off in Saint Louis, Missouri, in the single vice presidential debate October 2. Fifty-one percent of debate watchers polled said Biden won, and 36 percent said Palin won.

The post-debate polls do not reflect the views of all Americans. They only represent the views of people who watched the debates.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll was conducted by telephone Wednesday night, with 620 adult Americans who watched the debate questioned. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Obama's Electoral Lead Solidifies

Every site with an electoral map shows Obama's lead is solidifying. Electoral-Vote.Com, one of the most popular electoral map sites puts Obama at 349 and McCain at 174. Their map puts Florida and Virginia in Obama's column.

270towin.com put's Obama at 269 and McCain at 163. They have Florida and Virgina as tossups.

Real Clear Politics has it with Obama at 277 and McCain at 158.

Now some of you out there might be doubtful and think the above sites are biased. We'll I got news for you pal...they are most certainly not. How do I know? Simple...McCain's own campaign advisor...Mr. Karl Rove himself has his own electoral map that show's a massive Obama lead. You don't believe me? Click the link! Did you? Well what'd you see? It's 277 Obama, 163 McCain.

McCain is toast. We'll I don't want to be presumptive. Let's say he's ALMOST toast and we are just waiting for the toaster's timer to go ding.

Desperate McCain

The McCain / Palin Campaign is crashing and burning.

He lost the first debate, he lost the second debate.

Obama is pulling away in crucial swing states. He's even leading formerly Republican states.

No wonder McCain is getting more and more erratic and desperate everyday.

Take for example the "Ayers" smear. Like duh dude...Clinton already tried this during the primaries. It didn't really take off.

I mean c'mon...so you serve in a school board with someone who did a very bad thing decades ago. Do you really vet everyone you meet or everyone you serve with? Do you agree with the past actions of everyone you serve with? Heck no.

Don't even get me started on bringing up McCain and Palin's past associations...which by the way are far far more horrible than this Ayers thing. Alaska Independence Party anyone? That party wants Alaska to secede from the Union. That is called treason. McCain's association with Keating was far more solid that this Ayers smokescreen he's trying to blow up the American electorate's behind.

He knows he cannot win talking about issues...So John McCain takes the lowest road possible. What total hypocrite. This is a man who spoke out against these very kind of smear campaigns after it was used against him back in 2000. Maverick my butt! McCain's latest actions shows he's got nothing different compared with the worst of the Republicans.

Good for Obama to stay above the fray and let surrogates handle this act of desperation from the McCain / Palin campaign.

Heck he could just sit tight and ignore McCain and McCain will destroy his own campaign by himself with these erratic acts of desperation. Did his staff not notice during the 2nd debate that everytime they tried to go negative the live impression meter from undecided voters went way way down? People are sick of this stuff...they want to know what you can do for them! And McCain has no answer to that. McCain does not know what to do for ordinary folks like you and me. How can he? He's a multimillionaire with 13 houses, and 8 cars, married to an heiress. He's never had to balance a household budget to make ends meet. He's never had to worry about losing his house. He grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth and now he is secure in the knowledge that no matter how bad the economy goes...he will have some place to call home...well 13 of them!

I think Obama should revive Clinton's battle cry back in 1992. IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID! That's what people care about now! IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID!

HE MCCAIN...IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID! If you don't have a clue how to fix it, then you have already lost this election. Because...that's what people care about the most this time...it's the economy, stupid!

NO MCCAIN / PALIN!

Congressional Rebellion? Just WHAT is a Rebellion?

Greetings visitors! This post is a slight deviation from regular postings regarding Obama and his campaign or posts criticizing the Republicans.

In this post I hereby criticize the usage of the term "Rebellion" to call those in the House who voted AGAINST the 700 Billion Dollar Bailout bill.

Now why on earth would the media, the White House, the leadership of both parties are use this word to describe their colleagues who voted against such an unpopular plan?

TRUE they are voting against the wishes of their party leaders, the wishes of the lame duck president, the wishes of ex-CEO and multimillionaire Henry Paulson and the folks at the Federal Reserve. But WHY DID they vote against their "leaders"? Simple folks. It's an election year. And as we know, these politicians mostly listen to their constituents ONLY DURING AN ELECTION YEAR. And what did their constituents say? Majority told them to VOTE NO! Who wants to pay up to $3000.00 per tax payer to clean up Wall Street's mess. Let Wall Street and other rich companies pay for the clean up and fix up of this mess! Don't screw the little guys for something that is NOT, I repeat, NOT their fault! I do not buy for one second the administration's claims that the sky is falling and will fall without this bailout. Bush has become the boy who cried wolf. Maybe this time there really IS a wolf...but he has no credibility left and it's hard for common people like you and me to believe anything that comes out of his mouth.

Now let's get back to my original topic. Are the house members who voted against this insane plan (which they were given only a FEW DAYS to review...and with NO ALTERNATIVES BEING CONSIDERED) REBELS? I SAY NOT! They listened to their constituents...the PEOPLE that they serve (yes yes, it's only because they face reelection...but still at least they DO LISTEN THIS TIME). WHO ARE THESE CONGRESSMEN AND CONGRESSWOMEN'S real bosses? Err...that would be their CONSTITUENTS...the PEOPLE. The PEOPLE elect them, the PEOPLE pay for their salaries through their taxes, the PEOPLE are the ones they MUST SERVE FIRST, they can serve their congressional leaders SECOND. The PEOPLE ARE THEIR BOSSES. If they are doing the will of their TRUE BOSSES (The People), then they ARE NOT REBELS. THERE IS NO CONGRESSIONAL REBELLION. There are only congressional representatives who did EXACTLY what the Founding Fathers intended for them to do...SERVE THEIR CONSTITUENTS...REPRESENT THE PEOPLE. If majority of their constituents say NO...they they must say NO as well. That is their JOB! That is their PURPOSE. That is REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY AT WORK!

It is rare that the system actually works. And it tends to do this during election years. So let us be happy the system is working as it was intended to work. Repeat after me...THERE IS NO CONGRESSIONAL REBELLION. It's just Democracy working as IT SHOULD!

For the record I disagree with the 700 Dollar Bailout plan as it stands now. It needs serious changes or they need to consider ALTERNATIVES before passing something so VERY VERY EXPENSIVE FOR INDIVIDUAL TAXPAYERS into LAW. Did you know the current plan does not address the root cause of this mess? That's right folks, the current plan does not address the deregulation of Wall St. that got us into this mess. The current plan does not provide for any new regulations or rules for Wall St to PREVENT this kind of mess from happening AGAIN!

There are a few times I disagree with my candidate. This is one of those times.

NO TO THE CURRENT 700 BILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT PLAN!

700 BILLION BAILOUT: A GOVERNMENT OF THE (rich) PEOPLE, BY THE (rich) PEOPLE, FOR THE (rich) PEOPLE

One of America's greatest leaders once proudly declared that "...the government of the PEOPLE, by the PEOPLE, for the PEOPLE, shall not perish from the earth."

Let us make sure it DOES NOT PERISH--by using the ONLY REAL POWER we ORDINARY PEOPLE HAVE. THE POWER OF OUR BALLOT.

Because the government of the people, by the people and for the people is IN DANGER OF PERISHING. Under the Republicans for 8 horrible years.--the modern DARK AGES if you will--the government of the PEOPLE has slowly morphed to the government of the (rich) PEOPLE, for the (rich) PEOPLE, by the (rich) PEOPLE. Yeah yeah...technically it's still for ALL the PEOPLE. But in practice it seems to work for just the rich people. Specially in recent times.

Look at our situation now. The Republican Administration is trying to RAMROD a 700 BILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT PLAN through Congress. They are trying to get congress to rubber-stamp this crazy plan without much debate. I hope congress develops a SPINE this time an puts its foot down and demands more details and oversight. 700 BILLION to bailout the RICHEST COMPANIES. Yes, these companies are failing now...but through their OWN BAD DECISIONS, their own IRRESPONSIBILITY, their OWN GREED. What this is essentially is PRIVATE PROFIT, PUBLIC LOSSES. When these companies where making profit...they get to keep all that for themselves. But now that they are LOSING MONEY...the government now wants to make their LOSS PUBLIC. The taxpayer will be stuck with the GIANT 700 BILLION DOLLAR BILL to keep these companies afloat.

700 BILLION to the RICHEST COMPANIES...0...that's ZERO for ordinary STRUGGLING AMERICANS...specially those losing their homes. Now Congress is trying to get something into the bill to help out these people...but the Republicans resist...saying "we shouldn't put controversial items into the bill". EHEM! EXCUSE ME! 700 BILLION for the richest (but failing) banks and companies is NOT CONTROVERSIAL but a few billion to help out ORDINARY AMERICANS LOSING THEIR HOMES IS CONTROVERSIAL? WTF! WTF! Are the Republicans insane?

OBAMA IS RIGHT! No to a 700 BILLION DOLLAR Bailout Plan that helps ONLY WALL STREET BUT NOT MAIN STREET. Any plan to rescue the economy MUST...MUST include something to help out the common, ordinary STRUGGLING American citizen and families. The plan must also include OVERSIGHT and ACCOUNTABILITY. There can be "NO BLANK CHEQUE", as Obama has insisted. There must also be more oversight over these companies in exchange for this bailout.

Most of all remember on Nov. 4th that all this happened under a REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION. The buck stops with them.

NOW YOU ALL MAKE SURE TO USE YOUR POWER on Nov. 4th. Use your POWER WISELY. VOTE THE REPUBLICANS OUT!

Let us make sure on NOV. 4th that The Government of the PEOPLE, by the PEOPLE, and of the PEOPLE...does NOT PERISH from this EARTH!

NO MCCAIN NO PALIN.

Vote Obama / Biden 2008!

Vote Barack Obama for President!

It is TIME FOR CHANGE WE NEED!!!
